Manypenny Murphy Architecture had planned to participate in International Park(ing) Day on Sept. 18 by creating an art installation in a public parking space to promote the expansion of thoughtfully designed, publicly accessible green space in Portsmouth.
The City of Portsmouth would not allow us to proceed with this event.
We are very disappointed that our City chose not to permit us to bring an event that will be celebrated in hundreds of other cities around the world today to our community. This only seems to underscore the need to advocate for green space as the City's Master Plan moves forward. We'll be participating in the upcoming charrettes: see http://planportsmouth.com/masterplan/ - hope to see you there.
Happy Park(ing) Day.
