Alyssa Manypenny Murphy, AIA, LEED AP

Alyssa has served almost exclusively non-profit and institutional clients throughout her fourteen years in practice. Much of her work has focused on the development and renovation of subsidized and supportive housing, community and child care centers, and public and charter schools.  Recent work on university campuses in New England has included classrooms, offices, student housing and campus master planning.  Alyssa’s approach to the design process stresses abundant and fluid communication between the design team and project stakeholders to support a truly collaborative process.  She is consistently lauded by clients and colleagues for her efficiency and organizational vision.

Brian Murphy, AIA

Brian Murphy, AIA

Brian’s innate design sensibility leads him on a constant search for innovative and elegant solutions to spatial problems.  He has honed his skills at some of the most respected design firms in the country, where his responsibilities included a wide range of design as well as construction documentation and administration.  His experience ranges from renovations of historic buildings to private residences in many U.S. cities and internationally.  He has also served on master planning projects and provided consulting services to several architects and engineers in New York City.  Brian approaches each design opportunity, whether an urban development, a building renovation or a toy for his daughters, as an opportunity to improve the environment we live in with social, ecological and aesthetic integrity.

Emily Corbett

Emily Corbett

Emily balances a love of the built environment with a deep respect for the natural environment. She was drawn to architecture as way to symbiotically integrate these two often opposing but necessary ideas. She believes that to achieve this integration we must employ both technological means and simple but thoughtful choices uniquely shaped by the program and siting of each individual project.

At Haverford College Emily majored in the Growth and Structure of Cities with a concentration in Environmental Studies.  While attending the University of Michigan to earn her M. Arch degree, Emily joined the archaeological team surveying the Hellenistic archaeological site of Aphrodisias in Turkey as a field artist and also took opportunities to study architecture in Beijing, China and Florence, Italy.

In 2013, she attended the Passive House Academy in New York and earned her Passive House Designer Certification.

Elizabeth Nguyen

Elizabeth Nguyen

For Elizabeth, the design process is infused with inspiration from contemporary artists and a desire to integrate buildings into larger systems of culture, nature and the urban environment. While studying for her Masters in Architecture at M.I.T., she analyzed these relationships in international urban contexts. On study trips to Japan and China she was able to work with local students on local housing and urban design problems. At Epstein Joslin Architects, she brought these interests to site-specific sustainable strategies for dwelling. At Manypenny Murphy Architecture, Elizabeth continues exploring questions of culture and the urban condition through her work on a multi-family housing development in Manchester.
